Here are some moving tips to help your transition to a new home go smoothly.

• Speeding your mail to your new address:
You should fill out a change of address form at least 30 days before your move. You can obtain the PS FORM 3575 (Change of Address Form) from your nearest Post Office.
It will take 3 to 5 days after the 'start date' that you indicate in section 2 of the Change of Address Form for your mail to be forwarded from your old address to your new one.
The Post Office will forward your First-Class, Priority and Express mail at no charge for a period of 12 months, Second-Class, including newspapers and magazines, for 60 days at no charge, Third-Class is not forwarded unless requested by the mailer, Fourth-Class for 12 months locally at no charge, fees paid by you in you move outside the area.
Remember to notify family, businesses, friends, banks, insurance companies, credit card companies, doctors, dentists, and other service providers, State and Federal Tax authorities and other government agencies as needed. (To obtain an IRS change of address form call 1-800-829-3676).

PACKING TIPS:
You will need boxes, bubble wrap, marking pens, tape measure, furniture pads and sheets, packing tape and scissors.
Lable all boxes with the contents and the room to which the should be delivered.
Number the boxes and keep a list of what is in each box.
Clearly mark all Fragile Items.
Pack a bag of personal items you will need for each member of your family, toiletries, food, maps, medicine a change of cloths. Keep it in a handy, easy to find place.
If you have children, pack a bag of games and activities for the trip.

When you arrive at your new home:
Register to vote.
Contact the Department of Motor Vehicles to make sure they have your new address, and obtain a new license if needed.
Call your Chamber of Commerce for helpful information on Schools, Libraries, Cultural and Community activities, and emergency services.
